Shawnee Kilgore’s Wonder What Wednesdays

Shawnee Kilgore’s Wonder What Wednesdays began in July 2018 as a way to promote the Kickstarter campaign for Beginning at the Wilderness.

Over the course of the month she had 4 Wednesdays at the Townsend and vowed to play only original songs, no repeats, and nothing from any of her then 5 studio albums. She introduced Let That Songbird Bingo (a spin on her musical motto/ethos Let That Songbird Go) and had a guest each night to swap songs and each play a surprise cover of the other artist.It was way too fun and successful to stop and the series moved to Threadgill’s north until the pandemic when it had several events on Zoom and most recently at K&D House Concerts. The only rule that has changed is that she’s allowed to choose from any of her 650 songs so long as she’s never played them at a WWW before.

She’s now played 314 original songs and her guests have included Ray Prim, Noëlle Hampton, Jon Dee Graham, Suzanna Choffel, Jeff Plankenhorn, Erin Ivy, Monte Warden and many others.
